Basic Rules of Stud Poker
|
|
Stud poker varies slightly from draw poker and is one of the most common poker games around. In stud poker, also known as open poker, each participating player is dealt a single card face-down (called the hole card) and one single card face-up. Each player examines the hold card and lets it remain face-down, hidden from the view of other players. The player with the highest face-up card (which is visible to all players) starts the round of betting. Once all players have completed the round of initial betting, an additional card is dealt face-up. Again another round of bets ensues. This process is repeated until each player has four cards showing face-up and one face-down. A final betting round takes place and the hole cards are exposed. The player with the best hand from the five cards is the winner and takes the pot.
